ASEAN foreign chiefs have discussed how to bring peace to Myanmar. At their talks in Bangkok, they agreed to keep prodding the junta to implement the bloc&#039;s peace plan.
                
Myanmar&#039;s military-appointed foreign minister did not take part in Friday&#039;s meeting.
                
ASEAN and the junta signed off on the peace plan, called the Five-Point Consensus, shortly after the military coup in 2021. It stipulates an immediate end to the violence. But there&#039;s no sign of the generals putting it into action.
                
Thai officials said ASEAN member countries reaffirmed the need to enforce the agreement and promote dialogue with Myanmar toward a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
                
The UN says more than 5,000 Myanmar civilians had been killed in military crackdowns and airstrikes as of June this year.
                
At Friday&#039;s talks, Singapore&#039;s foreign minister voiced &quot;grave concern&quot; over the escalating violence and disappointment with the &quot;limited progress&quot; made in realizing the peace plan.
