The British government has banned the export of video game controllers to Russia. The restriction is one of the measures the government is taking in response to Moscow's ongoing invasion of Ukraine. The Foreign Office announced over 150 new trade measures against Russia on Thursday. The aim of the move is to deliver a blow to Russia's military and energy sectors. The office said video game controllers are being used to pilot drones on the frontlines. It added that the ban will prevent the devices from being "repurposed to kill in Ukraine." Another measure prohibits the export of software that is used in Russia to search for, and exploit, new oil and gas wells. The export of other items, such as chemicals, electronics, machinery and metals, will also be prohibited. Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the large-scale missile and drone attacks that Russia carried out in Ukraine from Wednesday to Thursday. He said the assaults were "just awful." He added that they are "a real human reminder of who is the aggressor here." The prime minister also stressed the importance of getting Russia to agree to an unconditional ceasefire.
