Foreign visitors staying at lodgings in Japan rose 19-fold year-on-year in April NHK

The Japan Tourism Agency says the number of foreign visitors who stayed at inns and hotels in the country totaled 10.38 million in April.

The figure is up 19-fold from the same month last year and 92 percent of the pre-pandemic level.

The number of domestic travelers who used such facilities increased 12 percent year-on-year, reaching 37.24 million.

The combined figure of 47.63 million is up 41 percent from the same month a year ago.
