European countries are rapidly increasing their security presence in the Indo-Pacific region. Some have held military exercises in and around Japan for the first time. This comes as China continues to flex its muscles in the Indo-Pacific -- even sending an aircraft carrier close to Japanese waters. A senior Japanese diplomatic official told NHK that Japan welcomes the European presence. And he offered insight on China's intentions.
