Hundreds of Chinese companies have taken part in an electronic parts exhibition in Russia at a time when Western countries have restricted semiconductor exports to Russia in response to its invasion of Ukraine. More than 800 firms are taking part in the event that began on Tuesday in Moscow. The highest-ever number of Chinese companies are participating, accounting for about half of all the participants. A sales representative of a company in Shenzhen, southern China, said Chinese firms have rushed to Russia when its market opened, citing fierce competition among semiconductor makers in China. Another Chinese company that sells electronic components said demand from Russia has risen by more than 30 percent in the past one or two years. The president of the company's Russian affiliate said many electronic components are produced in China, including those made by US or European companies. The person said Chinese sales companies buy the products under the guise that they are for local markets, then they sell them to Russia. The Russian organizer of the event predicted that cooperation with China will continue for a long time because Russia's electronics industry heavily depends on components from China.
