British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte agreed on Tuesday to build an international coalition to provide Ukraine with military support, including fighter jets.

The British prime minister's office says that this framework will enable countries to offer a wide range of support, such as training for pilots. It will also help Ukraine procure the F-16 fighter jets that it has been demanding.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba suggested that his country may receive modern fighter aircraft. He was apparently referring to F-16 jets.

Meanwhile, the Russian defense ministry said on Wednesday that its forces had launched attacks in the southern Ukrainian city of Mykolaiv.

Officials in Ukraine say Russian forces are intensifying their assaults in multiple Ukrainian regions that border Russia.

The head of Ukraine's presidential office, Andriy Yermak, posted a message on social media on Wednesday. He said the Russians have extended their attacks in the eastern region of Kharkiv, the northeastern region of Sumy and the northern region of Chernihiv.

He said there were more than 160 artillery attacks in the week through Tuesday. Yermak noted that 16 people were killed. He accused Moscow of carrying out terrorist attacks everywhere, not just on the front lines.

Ukraine's deputy defense minister, Hanna Maliar, suggested in a social media post on Wednesday that the Russian military had tried to stop Ukrainian troops from moving to other locations.
