Unconfirmed footage of a man who appears to be the leader of private military firm Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, was released on Wednesday. Independent media outlets in Russia reported that the video was shared on Prigozhin's social network. It remains unknown when and where the footage was taken. Also, the video is too dark and blurry to confirm whether the speaker is Prigozhin. In the film, the purported Wagner leader is seen telling mercenaries that the group has decided to stay in Belarus for the time being. He says he will train Belarusian troops to become the world's second-best military. The man also talks about setting off on a new path to Africa. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has said his country would accept Wagner fighters. An independent Belarusian monitoring group estimates more than 2,000 mercenaries have arrived at the camp in central Belarus. In Lithuania, a country that shares a border with Belarus, its president, Gitanas Nauseda, expressed weariness, saying that Wagner's presence near his country poses fresh threats.
