Houthi missile lands near Israel's Ben Gurion Airport, 6 reportedly injured NHK

The Israeli military said on Sunday that a missile fired from Yemen had landed near Ben Gurion Airport. Local media said six people were injured.

Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen said they launched the attack.

The Israeli military said it attempted to intercept the missile, but it fell in the vicinity of the international airport near Tel Aviv.

Local media say takeoffs and landings were briefly suspended at the airport.

The attack came as Israeli forces continue their assaults against the Islamic group Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The Houthis have expressed solidarity with Hamas, and have repeatedly fired missiles toward Israel.

The Houthi group released a statement that warned all airlines to stop using the Israeli airport.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said, "Whoever harms us will be harmed sevenfold," raising fears of a further increase in tensions in the region.
