The leader of Japan's junior ruling coalition partner Komeito has held talks with Cambodia's prime minister about how their countries can help clear landmines in Ukraine and around the world. Yamaguchi Natsuo and Hun Manet met on Monday in Phnom Penh. Hun Manet expressed gratitude for Japan's longtime support to remove landmines in Cambodia. Yamaguchi said the two countries can work together because they know first-hand about the value of peace. They both agreed that Japan and Cambodia can use their expertise to support landmine clearance work around the world. Yamaguchi later told reporters that Japan can help Cambodia make use of its skills and experience. He also said he will keep stressing the importance of such initiatives to the international community.
