Ukraine says it plans to produce a million drones next year of a type called FPV, or first-person-view, widely in demand on the battlefield of the country's war against the Russian invasion. FPV drones enable their operators to check aerial footage in real-time, as if they were the pilot really flying the aircraft. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at a news conference on Tuesday that the country will produce one million drones next year, boosting current output levels. On Wednesday, Ukraine's minister for strategic industries, Oleksandr Kamyshin, explained on social media that what the president was talking about the day before meant FPV drones. Ukraine has been using FPV drones, which are small and originally for personal civilian use, as a cheap but effective option for reconnaissance and attacks. The tactic of using such drones has also been adopted by Russian troops, and these machines became an important tool in battlefield offensives. Kamyshin also said that, in addition to the FPV drones, Ukraine plans to produce more than 11,000 medium-and long-range attack drones next year. The plan calls for production of about 10,000 drones flying several hundred kilometers, and at least 1,000 drones with a range of more than 1,000 kilometers. The minister suggested that these production plans are part of the country's effort to establish technological supremacy over Russia and tip the scales on the battlefield.
