Tokyo Port to be main terminal for Disney cruise service NHK

The operator of Tokyo Disneyland plans to use Tokyo Port as the main terminal for a cruise ship service it expects to start in fiscal 2028.

Oriental Land, which runs the theme park, has agreed with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government on the location. The company's CEO, Takano Yumiko, signed the deal at the capital's office on Friday.

Both sides have agreed to collaborate on fostering vibrancy in the Tokyo waterfront area.

Under the operator's plan, the Tokyo International Cruise Terminal will serve a cruise vessel that can accommodate about 4,000 people. The ship features a variety of entertainment, including shows with Disney characters.

Tokyo Governor Koike Yuriko said she wants to work with Oriental Land to promote tourism through the cruise ship business, so that Tokyo will be a destination for people around the world.
