Ukraine's Zelenskyy to visit Poland to meet with President Duda NHK

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will likely visit neighboring Poland as his country prepares massive counterattacks against Russia.

Poland's presidential office said on Monday that Zelenskyy is expected to visit the country on Wednesday at the invitation of President Andrzej Duda.

The two leaders will likely discuss Poland's military assistance for Ukraine. Poland has already said it would supply Ukraine with battle tanks and fighter jets.

Zelenskyy said on Sunday that Russian forces carried out a missile attack on Kostiantynivka, about 20 kilometers west of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine. He said six residents were killed and 11 others wounded.

Zelenskyy also said, "The evil state must be defeated," adding, "Next week will be especially important for our defense, for our advancement towards victory."

Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to meet with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko in Moscow on Wednesday.

Putin has indicated that his country will deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus in an apparent move to counter military support to Ukraine from Western countries.
