The United States and Britain have criticized Russia over the recent deadly missile explosion in Poland in the UN Security Council. Russia has argued that Ukraine&#039;s air defense fired the missile.
                
The Security Council held a meeting on Wednesday, following the missile explosion, which killed two people.
                
NATO has pointed to the possibility that the missile was a stray fired by Ukrainian forces.
                
Britain&#039;s UN Ambassador Barbara Woodward called the incident &quot;a tragedy that indisputably stems from Russia&#039;s illegal and unjustified invasion.&quot;
                
The US envoy, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, told the council that &quot;Ukraine has every right to defend itself against this barrage.&quot;
                
Ukrainian and Polish UN ambassadors also took part in the meeting. They stopped short of commenting the details of the missile but showed a willingness to cooperate with investigations into the explosion.
                
Russia&#039;s UN ambassador, Vassily Nebenzia, argued that &quot;it had been Ukrainian air-defense missiles that hit the territory of Poland.&quot;
                
He said the accusation that Russia fired the missile was not just another piece of disinformation, but a conscious attempt to drag NATO into a direct confrontation with Russia.
