Michelle Yeoh has become the first Asian star to win the Oscar for best lead actress for her role in the movie, &quot;Everything Everywhere All at Once.&quot;
                
Yeoh, who was born in Malaysia, received the prize at the 95th Academy Awards ceremony in Hollywood in the US state of California on Sunday.
                
She said, &quot;This is a beacon of hope and possibilities,&quot; and &quot;dreams do come true.&quot;
                
Ke Huy Quan, born in Vietnam, won this year&#039;s Oscar for best supporting actor for his role in the same movie.
                
As a boy, he starred in a 1984 &quot;Indiana Jones&quot; movie and &quot;The Goonies&quot; in 1985.
                
The actor said, &quot;My journey started on a boat. I spent a year in a refugee camp. Somehow I ended up here on Hollywood&#039;s biggest stage.&quot;
                
He went on to say, &quot;They say stories like this only happen in the movies. I cannot believe it&#039;s happening to me. This is the American dream.&quot; He called on people not to give up their dreams.
                
&quot;Everything Everywhere All at Once&quot; won in a total of seven categories, including best picture and directing.
                
The Oscar for best documentary feature film went to &quot;Navalny.&quot; The film portrays Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny -- a leading critic of President Vladimir Putin.
