High-ranking officials from the United States and Iran have wrapped up their latest round of talks over Tehran&#039;s nuclear program. They remain divided over uranium enrichment, but agreed to continue the negotiations.
        
                    
                  
The high-level talks took place in Oman on Sunday. The US side was led by Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi headed Iran&#039;s delegation.
        
                    
                  
The US is seeking to restrict Iran&#039;s nuclear development, while Tehran says its nuclear program is for peaceful use and is demanding that Washington lift its sanctions.
        
                    
                  
A senior US official said the latest talks took place both directly and indirectly again, and lasted more than three hours.
        
                    
                  
The official also said, &quot;Agreement was reached to move forward with the talks to continue working through technical elements.&quot;
        
                    
                  
Araghchi noted that a significant number of issues were thoroughly discussed. He said the two sides&#039; positions were getting closer. The foreign minister suggested that the next round of discussions will take place in about a week.
        
                    
                  
He also referred to a comment Witkoff made before the talks that the US would seek a complete halt to Iran&#039;s uranium enrichment program.
        
                    
                  
Araghchi said this contradicts the explanations that were given during the negotiations. He said there is room for compromise on enrichment levels and other elements, but the principle of enrichment is &quot;not negotiable.&quot;
