US wrestling star Hulk Hogan died on Thursday in Florida at the age of 71.



Hogan rose to stardom in the 1980s as one of the biggest names in US professional wrestling. He was known for his long blond hair and mustache.



He also got in the ring in Japan for legendary bouts with popular Japanese wrestler Antonio Inoki. Fans liked Hogan's trademark pose with his finger pointing up while he shouted "ichiban," meaning "number one" in Japanese.



Hogan also played a leading role in the US entertainment industry, appearing in movies and TV shows. He is known as a model for Neptuneman in the popular Japanese anime "Kinnikuman."



Police said Hogan was taken to hospital from his home in Florida on Thursday and pronounced dead. They said "there are no signs of foul play or suspicious activity" concerning his death.



Hogan was a supporter of US President Donald Trump. At the Republican National Convention for the 2024 presidential election, he took to the podium and tore up his tank top with his hands as part of his performance.



Trump mourned Hogan in a social media post, saying, "We lost a great friend today." He said, "He gave an absolutely electric speech at the Republican National Convention, that was one of the highlights of the entire week." Trump added, "He entertained fans from all over the World, and the cultural impact he had was massive."
