At least 31 people have been confirmed dead in the crash of a Bangladeshi Air Force jet into a school on Monday. Hundreds of students protested near the site in the capital Dhaka, demanding accountability.



The jet was on a training run when it crashed into the campus of the Milestone School and College shortly after takeoff.



Officials say that many of the dead are children under age 15. The pilot is among the fatalities. Around 80 people are still in the hospital with burns.



"The first thing we want is for the actual number of bodies not to be kept a secret," says Milestone College student Istiaq Ali Raihan. "That's our primary demand."



Rafiq Molla is the father of a 12-year-old girl who was killed in the crash. He says, "They called to tell me that my child is no more. I went and brought her back dead."



The students were about to return home when the jet crashed into their school and burst into flames.



Bangladesh's military says the fighter aircraft experienced a mechanical failure. The country's interim government says it will take all necessary measures to investigate the accident.
