The East Japan Railway Company says the Joetsu Shinkansen bullet train line resumed all operations Tuesday afternoon. The Hokuriku Shinkansen was also running again as of 3:20 p.m. But Monday's strong earthquakes have led to the suspension of various transportation systems linking affected areas along the Sea of Japan. A total of at least nine flights connecting cities including Tokyo and Osaka, and the prefectures of Ishikawa, Niigata and Yamagata have been canceled for Tuesday. Noto Airport in Ishikawa Prefecture will be closed until Thursday. However, Japan Airlines says it will operate four extra flights on Tuesday afternoon, two flights between Komatsu Airport in Ishikawa Prefecture and Haneda Airport, and another two flights between Niigata Airport and Itami Airport in Osaka. Roads closures are also continuing. Parts of expressways remain closed, mainly in areas hit by strong tremors.
