Israel and Hamas have agreed to extend the pause in their fighting by one more day. Their announcements came Thursday just minutes before the pause was due to end.
                
The pause began last Friday and was extended for two days on Tuesday.
                
Under the deal, Hamas has released 97 hostages. Israel has reportedly freed 210 jailed Palestinians.
                
The pause was due to expire at 7 AM local time on Thursday.
                
Tough negotiations on an extension are believed to have continued until the last minutes.
                
One sticking point appears to have been Hamas&#039;s list of hostages to be released.
                
Hamas said Thursday morning Israel had refused to accept seven women and children and the bodies of three people who died in Israeli bombing.
                
The Israeli government says it had decided to resume attacks immediately unless a list of hostages in line with agreed terms was delivered.
                
It says such a list was delivered.
                
Israeli media quoted sources as saying eight women and children will be released.
                
Aid officials say the one-day extension is far from enough.
                
UNFPA Representative for the State of Palestine, Dominic Allen says &quot; There is a need to be able to provide much needed humanitarian support. And we need to have a good amount of time.&quot;
                
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken told Israeli President Isaac Herzog on Thursday the US government hopes the pause will continue.
                
He said it has led to the release of hostages and enabled a significant increase in humanitarian assistance to go to innocent civilians in Gaza.
