A high pressure system over Japan is bringing summer-like weather to a wide area of the nation. Parts of the inland area of the Kanto region, which centers on Tokyo, may see the mercury top 35 degrees Celsius later on Sunday. Weather officials say a high pressure system is bringing heat from the Chugoku region in western Japan to the Tohoku region in the nation's northeast. However, they say the southwestern region of Kyushu is under developing rain clouds as the seasonal rain front is approaching. As of 1 p.m. the five hottest cities of the day were all recoded in the Kanto region including 34.8 degrees in Isesaki, Gunma Prefecture. Tokyo also logged 30.2 degrees. Authorities are advising caution as an increasing number of people have recently suffered suspected heat stroke.
