Indian and Pakistani military operations chiefs are expected to hold talks Monday after a weekend ceasefire deal was reached. It remains to be seen if the two sides will reaffirm a halt in fighting along the border, including the disputed Kashmir region. The Indian military carried out missile strikes Wednesday on Pakistan-administered Kashmir and elsewhere in retaliation for last month's terrorist attack that killed 26 tourists in the India-controlled part of the region. After several days of tit-for-tat clashes, the neighbors agreed on Saturday to suspend hostilities. US President Donald Trump said on social media that Washington brokered what he called "a full and immediate cease-fire." Concrete paths to peace are yet to be laid out. The two countries have kept in place diplomatic reciprocal measures such as trade suspension and visa cancellation.
