Search and rescue efforts are continuing in Bangkok after a high-rise building under construction collapsed in a quake that originated in Myanmar on Friday. Officials say at least 15 people were killed and more than 70 are missing. Five days have passed since the 33-storey building collapsed. International rescue crews have joined the operation to find and extricate construction workers trapped under the rubble. Officials say it is becoming more difficult to detect the vital signs of survivors. Attention is now focused on the investigation into the cause of the collapse and those who are responsible. The construction of the building is a joint venture between a Thai company and a Chinese state-owned construction firm. Thailand's industry ministry says some of the steel used in the building did not meet strength standards. Officials say they will inspect other construction projects the Chinese company is carrying out in the country. The projects include a part of a high-speed railway connecting Thailand and China. The Chinese Embassy in Bangkok said in a statement that it will instruct Chinese firms to cooperate with the Thai government's investigation of the disaster.
