A Russian presidential spokesperson has denied reports that a joint statement would be issued following US-Russian talks in Saudi Arabia over Ukraine. US and Russian negotiators met on Monday in the Saudi Arabian capital of Riyadh. Russia's Tass news agency reported that the working-level meeting continued for more than 12 hours. The two countries' media were reporting that a joint statement on the outcome of the talks was expected to be released on Tuesday. But, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters on that day that the delegations had technical talks, therefore its content will not be made public. The main topic at the meeting is believed to have been the safety of navigation in the Black Sea. The Russian delegation at the talks in Riyadh included Grigory Karasin, a former diplomat and now an upper house member. He told Tass after the meeting that there was a difficult but useful dialogue. Karasin said the talks would continue with the participation of the international community, including the United Nations and individual countries. Ukraine's public broadcaster Suspilne reported that Ukraine and the US also held talks on Tuesday, and that the talks have already ended.
