Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has thanked the US for its support following a heated exchange with US President Donald Trump at the White House.



Zelenskyy posted on social media on Saturday: "I'm thankful to President Trump, Congress for their bipartisan support, and American people. Ukrainians have always appreciated this support."



Recalling the heated exchange with Trump, Zelenskyy wrote, "Despite the tough dialogue, we remain strategic partners." He added, "It's crucial for us to have President Trump's support."



Zelenskyy also wrote, "He wants to end the war, but no one wants peace more than we do."
He expressed his intention to try to fix his relationship with Trump and sign an agreement on Ukraine's mineral resources.



Zelenskyy stressed that he wants the US to stand more firmly on the side of Ukraine.



He wrote: "It's understandable the US might look for dialogue with Putin. But the US has always spoken about 'peace through strength'. And together we can take strong steps against Putin."
