Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has thanked the US for its support following a heated exchange with US President Donald Trump at the White House.
        
                    
                  
Zelenskyy posted on social media on Saturday: &quot;I&#039;m thankful to President Trump, Congress for their bipartisan support, and American people. Ukrainians have always appreciated this support.&quot;
        
                    
                  
Recalling the heated exchange with Trump, Zelenskyy wrote, &quot;Despite the tough dialogue, we remain strategic partners.&quot; He added, &quot;It&#039;s crucial for us to have President Trump&#039;s support.&quot;
        
                    
                  
Zelenskyy also wrote, &quot;He wants to end the war, but no one wants peace more than we do.&quot;
He expressed his intention to try to fix his relationship with Trump and sign an agreement on Ukraine&#039;s mineral resources.
        
                    
                  
Zelenskyy stressed that he wants the US to stand more firmly on the side of Ukraine.
        
                    
                  
He wrote: &quot;It&#039;s understandable the US might look for dialogue with Putin. But the US has always spoken about &#039;peace through strength&#039;. And together we can take strong steps against Putin.&quot;
