General Motors says it will book a 7.1 billion-dollar charge in the three months through December due to a revamp of its electric-vehicle and China strategies. The US auto giant announced the write-down on Thursday. It says 6 billion dollars stem from EV production cuts as demand slumps in its home market. The remaining 1.1 billion is related to a restructuring of its China operations. EV sales fell in the US after President Donald Trump's administration ended tax credits for the vehicles. The latest charge follows a 1.6 billion-dollar EV write-down GM announced in October. The company says it may book additional charges this year.
