Japan's health ministry says it confirmed 3,941 new cases of the coronavirus in Tokyo on Thursday. The daily tally is up 452 from a week earlier, marking a fifth straight day of week-on-week increase. The ministry also confirmed four deaths in the capital. It says 17 seriously ill patients are on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines, up two from Wednesday.
