Half of respondents to a survey conducted in Ukraine support the idea of ending the war with Russia, even if it means making compromises. Ukrainska Pravda, a Ukrainian media outlet, on Monday reported the results of the December survey of Ukrainian nationals. Of those polled, 50.6 percent said they support the search for a compromise solution with the leaders of other countries involved. Ukrainians are apparently becoming open to making compromises on the areas of Ukraine now under Russian control. The percentage of respondents who support freezing the war and ending combat along the current frontlines rose from 8.2 percent in February last year to 19.5 percent. Meanwhile, 14.7 percent said they back continued combat operations until Ukraine reclaims its 1991 borders. Ukrainska Pravda said public sentiment changed as the battlefield situation evolved over the course of the past three years. It added that opposition from the public is inevitable if there are no significant security guarantees for Ukraine. US President Donald Trump suggested he would seek to bring the war to an early end, amid reports of an intensifying Russian offensive in the east.
