Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has accused western countries of "systematically militarizing" Ukraine in his address at the United Nations General Assembly in New York. He said the West is attempting to expand NATO to extend the bloc's area of responsibility to the Asia-Pacific region in his speech on Saturday. At a news conference, Lavrov was asked about US media reports that US President Joe Biden decided to send Ukraine the long-range, surface-to-surface missile system known as ATACMS. Lavrov replied that the Americans, the British, and many others are providing more and more weapons to Ukraine. He went on to say that they can call it whatever they want, but they are at war with Russia directly.
