1. US President Donald Trump visited Japan and met Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae, and will move on to South Korea for a meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) with President Lee Jae-myung.
2. On the sidelines of APEC, Trump is expected to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping, where observers will look for signs of cooling trade tensions as Trump has indicated he may impose new tariffs on Chinese goods.
3. Trump mentioned his openness to another summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and expressed concern about the issue of Japanese citizens abducted by North Korea in the 1970s and '80s, stating that the US will do everything within its power to address this issue.
