The United Nations Development Programme says it is "deeply distressed by preliminary reports of the shelling of the United Nations compound in Gaza City." The UNDP said in a statement on Saturday that "the shelling has reportedly resulted in a significant number of deaths and injuries." It cited its November 6 report that several hundred people seeking refuge had entered the compound, which UN staff had vacated.
