Polish president Duda meets with former US president Trump in New York NHK

Polish President Andrzej Duda has met with former US President and Republican presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump during his visit to New York.

The meeting took place at Trump's residence in the Trump Tower in Manhattan on Wednesday.

Prior to the meeting, Duda told reporters that he was invited by Trump to his apartment, and it was simply a private meeting.

The Trump campaign released a statement saying that they met for two and a half hours. The statement said they discussed a proposal by Duda that NATO countries should spend a minimum of 3 percent of their GDP on defense.

The statement said they also discussed the situation in Poland's neighboring country Ukraine, and the Middle East.

Trump is fighting a race against President Joe Biden ahead of the presidential election in November.

On April 8, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron also met Trump at his Mar-a-Lago residence in the southern state of Florida.

A series of meetings between Trump and foreign leaders suggests that they are preparing for the possibility of a second term for Trump.
