Indonesian presidential candidates have taken part in a final debate ahead of the vote on February 14. The three candidates have tried to persuade voters either that they should -- or shouldn't -- continue the policies of incumbent President Joko Widodo. Participating in Sunday's debate were former Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, current Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto and former Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo. Topics mainly covered social welfare and measures to combat poverty. Prabowo, in the debate, reiterated his intention to build on the economic foundation laid by Joko, saying that he "aims to tackle fundamental issues in improving the quality of life of the people, moving toward eliminating poverty from Indonesian soil." Anies and Ganjar said the current economic and welfare policies aren't doing enough to help people in need. Anies said the biggest issues the nation faces are "disparity, inequality and injustice," while Ganjar said "every mother, child, elderly person, disabled individual and indigenous community" should get equal access to health care. Opinion polls held last month gave Prabowo a support rate of 47 percent -- bigger than those of his two rivals combined. Campaigning wraps up on Saturday.
