A railway company has renovated a station in Tokyo ahead of the opening of a Harry Potter theme park nearby.
The theme park, which enables visitors to experience the world depicted in the films, will open on June 16 at the site where the Toshimaen amusement park was formerly located.
On Tuesday, Seibu Railway held a ceremony to mark the refurbishment of Toshimaen Station.
Images inspired by the films, such as a train and a white owl, are periodically projected onto the station's windows.
Many of the items on the platform, such as the pillars and boards that indicate the station's name, are colored in red to give visitors the impression that they are at Hogsmeade Station, the station depicted in the films.
Also on Tuesday, a train covered with pictures of the characters in the movies started operating between Toshimaen Station and Ikebukuro Station, one of the major terminals in central Tokyo.
Goto Takashi, the chairman of Seibu Holdings, said he wants visitors to have extraordinary experiences at the station, which is the only one of its kind in the country. Goto noted that many fans are expected to come from inside and outside Japan to visit the theme park. He said the company wants to show visitors some of the appeals of the local area.
