US President Joe Biden has stressed his country's "ironclad" support for Israel, after Iran vowed to retaliate for the recent deadly strike on the Iranian embassy in Syria.

Several Iranian military officers were killed in the attack earlier this month on the embassy compound in Damascus. The strike is believed to have been carried out by Israel.

Biden said at a news conference on Wednesday: "Our commitment to Israel's security against these threats from Iran and its proxies is ironclad. Let me say it again, ironclad. We're going to do all we can to protect Israel's security."

Biden referred to 100 trucks getting into Gaza in the last three days, but added, "It's not enough." He said he will see what Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does in terms of meeting the commitments he has made.
