Ueda: BOJ is grappling with uncertain situation NHK

BOJ Governor Ueda Kazuo said at a news conference on the bank's monetary policy meeting that policymakers were forced to respond to a situation that is still changing.



"When it comes to tariffs, the US is making quick decisions and rapidly expanding the scope of its levies," he said. "But we won't know until next month whether it actually goes ahead with them. In that sense, we continue to face uncertainty."



Ueda also said the bank is aware that higher producer prices are having a negative impact on people's lives.



He also addressed this year's wage negotiations, saying the talks have so far yielded relatively strong results.
