Indonesia's president-elect calls for unity after securing win NHK

Indonesia's president-elect delivered a speech at a ceremony on Wednesday where he was confirmed the winner of the presidential election in February.
Prabowo Subianto vowed to work for all Indonesians and called for unity.

The president-elect said the people demand that all elements of the leadership collaborate and bring goodness to their lives. Currently serving as the country's defense minister, Prabowo pledged to tackle poverty and corruption and to work for all Indonesians including those who didn't vote for him.

Prabowo was accompanied by his vice president-elect, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who is a son of incumbent President Joko Widodo.
The ceremony was held after the country's Constitutional Court dismissed allegations of election irregularities made by the two losing candidates.

The two alleged Joko had meddled with the court by having it create a loophole so Prabowo could pick his son, who did not meet the age-requirement, as his running mate.

The court rejected the challenge on Monday after ruling that it had found no convincing evidence that Joko had intervened.

Joko said on Wednesday that the ruling must be respected as the final and legal judgement, and that he is ready for the transition of power.

Prabowo is expected to be inaugurated in October.
Ahead of that, he will start picking cabinet members in preparation for taking office.
