1. The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine, occupied by Russia, has been without external power for over a week due to military activity damage on September 23. This is the tenth complete loss of offsite power since the Russian invasion. 2. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi is concerned as this is the longest lasting such event during more than three and a half years of war, but no immediate danger exists as long as emergency diesel generators keep functioning. 3. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has declared an emergency situation at the plant, criticizing Russia for preventing repair of power lines and basic safety restoration with shelling. Grossi is in constant contact with both sides to enable the plant's swift re-connection to the electricity grid.
