A Russian TV journalist who denounced the invasion of Ukraine live on air has spoken about her escape to France. Last March, Marina Ovsyannikova interrupted a news program holding a sign reading, "No war". She escaped house arrest the following autumn. At the headquarters of Reporters Without Borders in Paris on Friday, she explained how she used seven different vehicles before leaving the country on foot. She revealed that she chose a night on the weekend because there would be less chance of being chased by security forces. Ovsyannikova said the Russian people do not know the truth about the situation in Ukraine. She said they live in a "propaganda bubble", and consider the reports elsewhere about Bucha and Mariupol to be fake. Ovsyannikova fears Russia is becoming increasingly brutal and aggressive. She called on the international community to unite and provide Ukraine with more support.
