Japanese pitcher Yamamoto Yoshinobu of the Los Angeles Dodgers has hurled his first Major League victory against the Chicago Cubs.

Yamamoto started the game against the Chicago Cubs in Chicago on Saturday.

He loaded up the bases in the first inning, allowing two hits and a walk with no outs. But he pitched out of trouble by striking out three batters in a row with sharp breaking balls and fastballs.

He got out of another bases-loaded jam in the second inning by striking out Cubs star Cody Bellinger looking.

In all, Yamamoto had 80 pitches, three hits, two walks and eight strikeouts over five scoreless innings.

Ohtani Shohei belted two hits for the Dodgers.

The Cub's Suzuki Seiya failed to get a hit against Yamamoto. Suzuki's hitting streak ended at five games.

The Dodgers beat the Cubs 4-1.

Japanese pitcher Imanaga Shota is expected to start for the Cubs on Sunday.

Four Japanese are playing for the two teams, and their games have attracted many Japanese fans.

A man wearing an Ohtani jersey said it feels like a "Japan Day." He said he lives in Chicago and bought the jersey especially, as it is his only opportunity to see Ohtani play in the city this year.

Suzuki played with Japan's Hiroshima Toyo Carp before he joined the Cubs. A woman wearing a replica of his old team's jersey said she is from Canada. She said she is originally from Hiroshima and a long-time Suzuki fan. She added she wants to see him hit a home run.
