Croatia secures third place with defeat of Morocco in the World Cup NHK

In men's FIFA World Cup, Croatia has secured third place with a 2-1 win over Morocco at Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, Qatar on Saturday.
It was the second time 2018 runner-up Croatia has taken the bronze medal in the tournament. They also achieved the feat in 1998.

The two teams met in the group stage where they finished in a goalless draw.
But the play-off match started with both teams scoring less than 10 minutes in.
Josko Gvardiol put Croatia ahead in the 7th minute with a diving header.
Morocco came right back just two minutes later with Achraf Dari 's header.
Mislav Orsic then scored the decisive goal for Croatia just before halftime.
Croatia ended their campaign on a high but it was likely the last World Cup appearance for the team's 37-year-old icon Luka Modric.
After the match, Modric said that "we have achieved a great thing for the sake of our country and for the national team. I hope our team will clinch the championship in the future."

Meanwhile, Morocco's magical run came to an end. They became the first African or Arabic team to reach the semi-finals.
Coach Walid Regragui was disappointed but proud of his players. He said that " We broke the glass ceiling a little and advanced to the final 4. We learned in the last two games that we still have work to do, one was against France and this game. We will do our best to reach a higher level."
On Sunday, France and Argentina will face off in the final match.
