US media have reported that Japanese professional baseball pitcher Fujinami Shintaro has agreed to a one-year contract with the Oakland Athletics.
                
ESPN and others reported that the 28-year-old right-hander of Japan&#039;s Hanshin Tigers agreed on Wednesday to join the Major League team through the posting system.
                
Fujinami spent 10 seasons with the Tigers, the final 2 as a starting pitcher. Last season he had 3 wins and 5 losses, with an earned run average of 3.38.
                
The media say Fujinami will undergo physical checkups before sealing an official deal. He is expected to join the A&#039;s starting rotation.
                
The team, based in Oakland, California, belongs to the western division of the American League, as do the Los Angeles Angels, the team of Japanese two-way star Ohtani Shohei.
                
The A&#039;s finished at the bottom of the division last season with 60 wins and 102 losses.
