Severe storm Trami lashes Philippines NHK

Severe storm Trami is pummeling Luzon Island in the Philippines' north. Authorities say at least 15 people have been killed.

The Philippine government says Trami has affected almost 400,000 people, mostly in the eastern region. More than 12,000 evacuated after their homes were flooded or destroyed.

Air and seaport operations in some affected areas have been halted, stranding thousands of passengers. Some locations are also without power.

The storm is slightly accelerating while maintaining its strength. It may make landfall on Luzon Island between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
