East Japan Railway Company says that some sections of the Chuo Main Line, the Ome Line, and the Joetsu Line have been suspended starting with the first train on Tuesday due to a heavy snowfall in the greater Tokyo region.

The Chuo Main Line is expected to resume around noon, while the Ome Line is expected to resume some time on Tuesday morning. The Joetsu Line is expected to resume around 1 p.m.

Train service has also been suspended on the Seibu-yurakucho Line between Nerima and Kotake-mukaihara stations.

Railway operators are calling on people to check weather conditions and train services, as services may be suspended or significantly delayed, depending on snow conditions.

All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines decided to cancel a total of 31 flights mainly to and from Tokyo's Haneda Airport on Tuesday.

TEPCO says that as of 8:30 am on Tuesday more than 3,100 households in Kanagawa, Yamanashi, Saitama and Tokyo are out of power.

Weather officials say the snowfall has passed its peak, but are urging caution against traffic disruptions caused by snow and icy roads.
