Russia launches more attacks on Ukraine, denounces outcomes of NATO summit NHK

Russian forces are continuing attacks in wide areas of Ukraine, as Moscow criticized NATO for having returned to "Cold War schemes."

Ukrainian deputy defense minister Hanna Maliar said on Wednesday that her country's forces have stopped the advance of Russian troops on the frontlines in the east. She said Ukrainian forces are continuing their offensive in the south.

Ukrainian air forces announced on Thursday that they had destroyed all 20 drones that flew over the capital of Kyiv and its vicinity.

Ukraine's State Emergency Service said fragments fell on multiple locations in the city and a fire broke out, injuring four people.

Authorities in the southern Ukrainian region of Kherson said three people were killed as a result of Russian shelling on Wednesday and Thursday.

Local media reported that Kyiv and 11 other regions in Ukraine came under attack in just one day.

Russia's foreign ministry has censured NATO member countries that pledged to provide additional military assistance to Ukraine at their summit in Lithuania.

The ministry said in a statement on Wednesday that the outcomes of the summit show that NATO has returned to "Cold War schemes."

The ministry said Russia will use all available means to address the challenges and threats it faces. It said the country will strengthen its military and defense capabilities.
