Japan's opposition leaders react to LDP leadership election NHK

The leaders of Japan's opposition parties have expressed their opinions on how they intend to deal with the main ruling Liberal Democratic Party after its leadership race.



Noda Yoshihiko is the leader of the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan, the largest opposition group. He said he urgently wants to work on compiling a supplementary budget.



Noda stressed that he wants an extraordinary Diet session to be held soon after the LDP election so that economic measures can be quickly implemented.



Japan Innovation Party Co-Representative Fujita Fumitake noted that his party has been asked almost every day whether it will join a coalition with the LDP, or whether the Democratic Party for the People will do so.



Fujita said that each lawmaker needs to think deeply and envision the course of Japan for the future.



Democratic Party for the People President Tamaki Yuichiro said that whoever leads the LDP must tackle the labor shortage issue and implement practical measures soon.



He said his party will ask the new LDP leader for their cooperation, and his party will cooperate in return.
