The US State Department says its officials have conveyed the United States&#039; concerns to China over recent incidents between the two nations&#039; militaries in the Taiwan Strait and South China Sea.
                
The State Department says Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel Kritenbrink met with China&#039;s Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu and others in Beijing on Monday.
                
The meeting comes amid growing concerns over what the US calls &quot;dangerous encounters&quot; between the US and Chinese forces.
                
A Chinese fighter jet passed in front of a US reconnaissance aircraft over the South China Sea on May 26.
                
A Chinese warship crossed in front of a US destroyer in the Taiwan Strait on Saturday.
                
The US military has released a video showing an &quot;unsafe maneuver&quot; by the Chinese vessel that it says could have led to an unintended clash.
                
White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby spoke to reporters on Monday.
                
Kirby said, &quot;It won&#039;t be long before somebody gets hurt.&quot; He added, &quot;It wouldn&#039;t take much for an error in judgement or a mistake to get made.&quot;
                
He also called for the resumption of a US-China military line that was shut down in August.
                
Kirby later noted, &quot;we are feeling like we are making progress in terms of opening up additional lines of communications.&quot;
