Restaurant chain operators in Japan are reaching rapid agreements with unions on sizeable wage increases for workers. They follow automakers in clinching early deals in annual spring wage negotiations amid the country's tight labor market. Major restaurant chain Skylark Holdings on Monday said it accepted a labor union demand for a 6.22-percent wage hike, including base pay. The agreement tops Skylark's increase last year, which was the biggest in a decade. Matsuya Foods Holdings agreed on its biggest-ever wage bump of 10.9 percent, including base-pay. The operator of beef bowl restaurant chains will also raise starting salaries for new recruits. Hamburger chain McDonald's Japan has said it plans to offer an average wage increase of 4 percent to its workers, again including base-pay.
