US President-elect Donald Trump has made nominations for most of the key posts in his incoming administration. He has tapped loyalists in an apparent bid to push ahead with his campaign pledges.
Trump said on Friday he has chosen hedge fund manager Scott Bessent as Treasury Secretary. Bessent is known as a strong Trump supporter.
On the same day, Trump announced his picks to lead the Department of Labor and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Among the heads of 15 executive departments, Trump has already made nominations for 14.
He named hardliners against China as core members of the new administration, including Senator Marco Rubio, whom he nominated as Secretary of State. The lineup appears to signal Trump will take a firm stance against the country.
The president-elect has also tapped advocates of tough measures against illegal immigration for key posts, including his appointee South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem as head of the Department of Homeland Security. Trump described Noem as the first governor to send National Guard soldiers to help Texas fight a border crisis.
Trump's choices include a number of people with no political experience. Entrepreneur Elon Musk has been named to lead a new organization to review waste in public spending. A TV host with the conservative media has also been selected as a key Cabinet member.
In the former Trump administration, a number of Cabinet members and aides resigned or were dismissed due to differences in opinions and other reasons.
This time, Trump appears to be choosing strong supporters of his foreign, immigration and economic policies, to make sure he can implement them.
