The newest Nobel laureates are set to collect their prizes next week. They include two Japanese scientists, who have already arrived in the Swedish capital Stockholm. Distinguished Honorary Professor Sakaguchi Shimon of the University of Osaka is among three winners of this year's Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. And Executive Vice-President and Distinguished Professor Kitagawa Susumu of Kyoto University is among three winners of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. They will both be attending the awards ceremony on Wednesday and other related events throughout the week. Kitagawa spoke to reporters in front of his hotel. He said it is warmer in Stockholm than he expected, and that he is looking forward to giving a lecture and taking part in the award ceremony. Sakaguchi is in Stockholm with his wife, Noriko, who is also a researcher. He said he wants to enjoy the various events during his stay. On Saturday, Sakaguchi will attend a news conference held by the Nobel Foundation. Kitagawa is scheduled to visit a school for Japanese students.
